Just popped onto the bbc weather centre page and though wow this is great.
The slider is really nice feature to have to slide through the weather for the times of day. The ability to go back through the last 12 hours of weather as well is rather cool.

I’m going to use these functions as inspiration for weather tweet and improve the system.

Hi all,
Yes i haven’t updated the site in while and today i felt i should explain why. Well first I’ve been really busy with work getting a web application up and running and secondly I’ve been moving from one house to another.
The good news is i will now have another postcode to tweet the weather from.
Ok enough of that. The plans for the next month for weather tweet is to get a history function working so we can go through previous dates and view the weather for those.
I’m also planning on setting up a flickr group to post your wonderful weather pictures on and then pull them onto this site which i think would be great to way of getting more users to interact with weather tweet.
I’ve noticed a lot of teachers and schools using weather tweet in there classrooms which i think is great. I’m just wondering what functions would make this site even more of a useful tool for the classrooms.
Well I’m going to leave it at that now and get working on the history function.
Thanks for supporting the system.
Matt

Sarah Cole from
muddle jewellery has designed and made some fantastic weather related jewellery. She has kindly allowed me to use these on this site. I really love the use of colour to make them stand out and fun to wear.
Thanks Sarah.

Weather tweet has now got a google earth kml file.
If you tweet the weather you can now see it in google earth. Now this is just the first stage of this side project and its still a little buggy.
It will fetch all the tweets from when weather tweet was set up. Plans are to add a time line to this so you can scroll through the dates and see what the weather was like.

If you have any ideas on how to improve this then let me know.
Hope you enjoy.

@don_iain Thought we needed a “Monsoon” catgory on Weather Tweets last night, but it turns out it should have been “Tornado” :-p
A fellow weather tweeter was caught in a tornado.

Weather tweet has been given a great review from the author of The H-Blog.
I thought the points raised were very valid and i’ll be using them on the next update on the system.
Here is a link to the blog post directly
Points raised are:
Only 2 things I was thinking would help improve the website:
1 - An area on the website form for a name, so that you can tell people who you are when using this interface (obviously when using Twitter, this is done by using your Twusername)
2 - Some of the symbols are difficult to see against the map - maybe make them a different colour, or give them an outline, or make the map a different colour?
Thanks for the review @pmbaird

Over the last few month of weather tweeting and gaining a following users have been adding photos as well to their tweets. These are then show on weather tweet as a link to the serviced used (eg twitpic).
One user in particular has taken a lot of images of the weather and used some of them in her tweets. I thought it was a shame that these images are just fleeting glances of them moment then removed from the page. So i thought why not show them in a blog post.
So i give you @Me_Piglet’s images enjoy.

Thank you for allow me to use your images @Me_Piglet. see more of her twitter images
